Bill On Death For Raping Children Below 12 To Be Tabled Soon:- A key decision has been taken in the recent Union cabinet meeting that has been chaired by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. A bill is soon to be tabled to provide stringent punishment for all those who rape children below the age of 12 years. A death penalty for the convicted is under consideration and the bill will be introduced in the monsoon sessions of Parliament that started yesterday.

The Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill, 2018, once approved by Parliament, will replace the Criminal Law (Amendment) Ordinance announced on April 21st after the Kathua incident that took place in Jammu and Kashmir. The cabinet approved the bill and the draft has been prepared by the Home Ministry. Death sentence will be announced for the rapists under this bill. The minimum punishment in rape case has been increased to ten years from seven years. The deadline for the completion of the trial in the rape cases will be two months.
