Indian-American Sharath Koppu's Killer Shot Dead In Kansas:- A gunslinger, who was being investigated in the killing of an Indian-American Sharath Koppu of Warangal, was shot dead in a shootout with the Kansas City Police on Sunday. The gunman had shot and injured three police officers before his death in an exchange of gunshot with the police force.
According to local media reports, the three officers were out of danger.
A man, whose name was unrelieved was under police investigation after he shot dead Sharath, a master's degree student in the University of Missouri on July 6 during an armed robbery in a Kansas eating place.
Media quoted the president of Indian Association of Kansas city Jagdeesh Subramanian, as saying that the group was thankful to police for following Sharath's shooting diligently and that "there is some closure" with the person of interest's death.
"We are equally disheartened hearing about the three officers who were shot in pursuit," Subramanian was quoted in a statement.
The man opened fire on officers on Sunday afternoon with a semi-automatic "AK-47-type" rifle as they conducted a probe at a motel. Two officers were injured in that gunfire.
Police said the men flood in a vehicle subsequently shooting two officers.
Police have taken the vehicle into custody, the other person's who is believed to be not active in a deadly robbery.
According to top newspaper reports, the gunman remained at large until about an hour or so later, when he opened fire at officers from inside a dwelling where he had barred himself a short distance from the motel, police said. An investigator was shot and injured in this firing, which ended with the death of the suspect.
