Uttar Pradesh (UP) Nav Nirman Sena Chief Amit Jani and its members have put up the banners and hoardings along the Partapur bypass, in Meerut asking the Kashmiris to leave the State.
The banners have been put up outside the colleges where Kashmiri students study, came up in the wake of incidents of stone-pelting on security forces in Kashmir. It called for boycott of Kashmiris and asking people to leave UP.
Police said that action will be taken against those putting up such hoardings. But, the Nirman Sena, however, said that it is only their first step, and it will launch a “Halla Bol” campaign from April 30 to “banish” the Kashmiris who do not leave the state on their own. Meanwhile, following the incident, Home Minister, Rajnath Singh asked all the states, to ensure safety of Kashmiris.
Recently, a video clip of some youths assaulting soldiers on their way to poll duty in Kralpora area in central Kashmir's Budgam district had gone viral on social media, which in turn drew nationwide outrage.
Srinagar based spokesperson Col Kalia earlier said that there had been suspension in internet services in Kashmir (following violence on April 9) and hence could not see the video clips while Jammu based spokesperson Lt Col Mehta said that his Srinagar counterpart shall be the right person to speak on the incident. Army jawans and paramilitary personnel deployed in the Valley were often targeted by the mobs instigated by separatists and supporters of militant outfits, an army officer said on condition of anonymity.
