The Supreme Court (SC), today, suggested the concerned parties in Ram Temple dispute case, to negotiate among themselves on the Ayodhya Ram Temple Issue.

The Court’s suggestion, came up after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy sought an urgent hearing on the Ayodhya dispute.

Considering Ram Mandir - Ayodhya as a sensitive and sentimental issue, the SC suggested Subramanian Swamy to settle the issue, amicably outside the court.

The Chief Justice of India (CJI) JS Khehar, suggested Swamy to sort out the issue through negotiations, which would be agreed upon by all petitioners and respondents, and to inform the SC, about the decision on 31 March.

"If negotiations do not break down, then SC will get involved and appoint a mediator for resolution," added the apex court.

The proposed Ram temple in Ayodhya, one of the most controversial issues over the last 25 years, amid claims that it was the birthplace of Hindu deity Lord Rama and the mosque was constructed on the holy land of Hindus.

In 1992, there was a huge Hindu upsurge for the possession of Lord Sriram’s birthplace in Ayodhya. The Babari Masjid was built by the Mughal emperor Babur after destroying the Temple of Sriram. The charged Hindutva mascots demolished the disputed Babari Masjid on December 6, 1992.

This indeed has triggered widespread Hindu-Muslim violence. A number of senior BJP leaders, including LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharti and Vinay Katiyar are accused in the case.

Subramanian Swamy, who is a petitioner in the case, told the media after the hearing, “That they have been ready from the beginning, for the construction of both Mandir and Masjid at the site, but with an only condition, that the Babri Masjid can be shifted anywhere else, across the river.”

“The matter needed to be settled through mutual agreement and I am sure resolution would come by discussion", Swamy added.

Furthermore, the SC, earlier this month, also expressed its concern over the delay in the trial against the BJP leaders, involved in the demolition of the Babri Masjid and suggested a joint trial of the accused.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has even challenged the Allahabad High Court's ruling, to acquit the accused BJP leaders, the then Uttar Pradesh chief minister and present Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh besides others.
