All the Journalists of Andhra Pradesh staged a protest on Sunday. They took out rallies after the airing of Sakshi TV channel was blocked in the state since last Thursday.
Sakshi TV channel has covered Kapu issue very intensively. A.P. Union of Working Journalists called all the journalists, photographers and videographers from other channels to stage demonstrations at all mandal headquarters of Kurnool district.
"Every ruler who attempted to suppress the media had to face the wrath of people and Chandrababu is not an exception. He will have to pay the price for his suppressive and repressive measures," journalist leaders said.
They added that "It is shameful that the chief minister and cabinet colleagues are openly admitting that they have ordered the blockage of Sakshi TV." The journalist also submitted memorandums to police on the blockage.
Protestors wore a black ribbon to show their protest. The union members also staged a half-naked protest and a rasta roko at Alur and Kodumur. Dharnas were commenced at Gandhi Circle in Dhone, Mahanandi, Nandyal, Kosigi, Kowthalam, Yemmiganur, Pathikonda, Atmakur, Peddakabadur.
Adoni. Leaders of CPI, CPI (M) and Awaaz took part in the protest at Nandyal. APUWJ district president T. Ambanna and general secretary M. Ramamohan led a candlelight rally from Zilla Parishad to Rajavihar circle in Kurnool.
