The Congress Working Committee is steadfast on arriving at a solid decision in the coming days. The debate on 'a separate Telangana state or not' has reached boiling stage with everyone awaiting the crucial meeting with bated breath.
Rumors flying around point towards a decision favoring Telangana with Hyderabad. This will set in motion bad tidings for Seemandhra, as the state would then have to look around for a capital, besides law and order. While Telangana would forge ahead with investments attracted by a city that the whole state built, Seemandhra would lose out on the same.
Another issue is the matter of voting. It is said that, Congress would receive unanimous votes from a possible Telangana state. Whereas, Seemandhra would not have a clear majority. The protests that would soon follow will only derail progress like what we have seen until now in Telangana.
It is said that, the CWC will hold their precious meeting before 6th August, when the state leaders assemble for the monsoon session. With the Panchayat and Municipal elections taking place across Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has requested congress to hold off the meeting until the elections end. Besides, a Congress spokesperson Kamalakar Rao has reiterated that Rahul Gandhi scheduled a PCC presidents' meeting on 27th July to address the Food Security Bill.
PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana confirmed the arrangement, saying he would leave to Delhi on 26th July. It has been reported that AICC president Sonia Gandhi would open the Telangana issue for discussion at the 4th August Congress parliamentary Party meeting. A Telangana bill in the parliament is on the cards.
