The State Finance Minister Anam Rama Narayana Reddy is the unhappy one of all the Members of the Assembly as the Budget could not be introduced for discussions on it. He is sad for the budget session convened for debates on important issues was spent without doing it. He worries that the Assembly is meant for enacting important laws and now what signals it is giving to the public in general for the sheer wastage in the Assembly.
If we go by figures, the cost of the present Budget session just concluded is Rs.9000 per minute! With walkouts and adjournments, the budget session as it transacted and debated is divided by the total cost, it comes to Rs.9000 per minute. And people of the State can easily evaluate the result it yielded. The assembly reportedly consumed 2000 units of power per day.
And the Members of the Assembly as usual were happy at the end of the session carrying free gifts for the wonderful contribution they made for the development of the State.
The loss worked out is only a direct loss. The indirect loss of the State for the time wasted which could have been used for the developmental activities is not considered.
