Demanding the government to name the Visakhapatnam district after the well known revolutionary freedom fighter Alluri Sitaramaraju, his nephew GV Satyanarayana threatened to sit on a fast unto death to realize the ambition.

Addressing media persons in Visakhapatnam today, he said that both the state and central governments have failed to recognize the contribution of Alluri Sitaramaraju to the freedom struggle. “It is very unfortunate that the Jayanthi and Vardhanthi of Alluri Sitaramaraju are not being conducted officially by the government,” he said.

Mr Satyanarayana threatened to take up the fast at the District Collectorate soon to put pressure on the government to ensure proper recognition to the highly respected revolutionary.
