Getting into Trouble by Telling Truth- Botsa Afraids October 19, 2013 15:38

PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana today talked to the Media representatives at Visakhapatnam.   He said that he talks truth and gets in to problems as a result.  He accepted that the Congress party has lost its credibility and facing a down fall.  But, he says, he has an elderly role to play in the party as the President of Pradesh Congress Committee of AP.   Botsa commented on the leaders who take the side of Samaikyandhra for the sake of political gain.  He said that Jagan and Vijayamma went on hunger strike just for the sake of political mileage.  He says that the TDP Chief Chandra Babu lacks clarity.  He criticized that the leaders changing political parties are only interested in their positions but not in the samaikya movement. -SriJa

Patients Running To Private Hospitals October 18, 2013 10:54

Although RTC, Teachers JAC and now APNGOs have agreed to join duties temporarily calling off strike, still protests and strikes are going on in Seemandhra. The Government Hospitals Medical Staff JAC called for the strike at Visakhapatnam from Thursday, the outpatient wings of the KGH, REH, T.B., IDH, Mental Care, VGH and ENT were unattended.   OPs were opened for 4 days during the festival time but again the strike is restarted which will be observed till 26th of this month.  Only emergency cases will be attended by the medical staff during this period.  About 2000 patients daily visit OP daily in KGH alone.  They ran to the private hospitals after learning about the strike. Even operation theaters in which 120 surgeries are undertaken are also closed.  Patients desirous of getting treatment under ArogyaShree are seen suffering due to the strike after a lull of let up for four days.   The Medical Superintendant of KGH Dr.M.Madhusudhan Babu said that the emergency cases are being attended.  He also said that as the Government Employees have agreed to call off strike, the doctors are asked to join duties again.   -SriJa

The Protective Wall in Bheemli Beach Fell Down October 12, 2013 13:13

Because of the strong tides in the Bay of Bengal due to Phailin cyclone, the protective wall at Bhimli beach collapsed to the extent of 80 feet.   Revenue officers expecting threat immediately sprang in to action.  The wall is being filled up with the sand bags and repair work is being taken up by the rescue teams.   In Srikakulam district Sea water came in to the village of Baruva Kothuru.  The villagers ran with panic.  The Revenue Authorities are taking them to the safe place. -SriJa

AVMs Reprogrammed 'With None Of The Above' Option October 02, 2013 16:23

Like options in the objective test like A..,B..,C..,d.. and E none of the above, now voters are given a choice- None of the above to reject all the contestants in the elections.  Accordingly the AVMs are also getting reprogrammed as the Supreme Court of India's judgment made it compulsory.    The Chief Electoral officer Bhanwarlal said at Visakhapatnam that the voters need not keep away from franchising their vote because of the reason that they do not like any of the contestants to represent them.  The meeting was attended by the students and businessmen of Visakhapatnam. In order to increase the voters turn out Bhanwarlal made arrangements to distribute slips voter and booth details to the voters few days before the elections.   At the same time Bhanwarlal also emphasized on the correctness of the voter list.  He said that the on line enrolments ensures correctness of the names and addresses as they will be filled by the voter.  Bhanwarlal also requested the family members to help in making the list of voters accurate by informing of the deletions either due to death or immigration to other countries.   Above all, Bhanwarlal said, Election is an important part of the democracy and it makes it important that the voters should go to voting booths, patiently wait for their turn to franchise their vote and be part of the democratic process. -SriJa

HPCL Accident Cause Not Yet Ascertained September 06, 2013 09:04

Although so many days are passed and the death toll is rising day by day, still the authorities are yet to ascertain the cause for the accident.  As law directs, the factories department has to complete the enquiry and report within 90 days of the accident.  And after that if cause of the accident is due to violation of the security norms, the prosecution will be initiated against the occupier of the factory. With the death of Appala Raju who was under medical treatment in Old Care Hospital the number reached to 25 in the fire accident occurred in HPCL Refinery on August 23 in one of the cooling towers.  7 persons died on the spot when the fire broke suddenly in the night.  The Director of the Factories says that it was a major incident that took place so far in cooling towers.  He says that there must be some violation to cause the accident and once it is established the prosecution will be take place with the permission of the Government. At the time of accident 8 employees of HPCL and some contract workers were present at the spot.  The wounded were rushed to different corporate hospitals in Vizag and 8 in critical condition were shifted to Mumbai by plane. -SriJa

Death Toll in HPCL refinery Blast Reached 11 August 27, 2013 13:29

11 Employees are declared dead in the fire accident that broke in the HPCL refinery at Visakhapatnam. 4 wounded in critical condition were air lifted to Mumbai for better medical treatment. About 3000 contract labor are protesting at the main gate of the Refinery.  They demand the list of the dead in the incident and immediate release of compensation. A blast occurred in one of the cooling towers in the HPCL refinery on Friday.  Still particulars of names of the persons dead and injured are not announced clearly and the cause of the accident is not determined.  Work in the refinery came to stand still and the wailing family members are demanding for the facts to be revealed. Petrolium Minsiter Veerappa Moily announced a compensation of Rs.20 lakhs to the next kin of the deceased in the incident.  As per the latest announcement made by HPCL, 38 workers are undergoing treatement at various corporate hospitals. Ex-gratia announced to HPCL Employees 20 Lakhs August 26, 2013 15:10

An ex-gratia of Rs.20 lakhs to the wounded employees in the fire accident in the HPCL Refinery at Visakhapatnam is announced by the CMD of HPCL at Visakhapatnam.   He also assured that the safety measures will be reviewed by the international experts.   4000 employees protested today in the morning sitting in front of the refinery main gate demanding upgradation of the safety measures.  The death toll reached to 9 in the fire broke in HPCL Refinery on Friday in one of the cooling towers in HPCL Refinery at Malkapuram in Visakhapatnam.  About 40 wounded employees are getting treatment in the Care Hospital at Visakhapatnam while one employee Venkata Rao was transported to Mumbai by plane for better treatment.   CMD Ray Chowdhery said that the incident of this gravity has never happened in the refineries so far.  He also expressed his concern on its effect on the production. Lokula Gandhi an NRI was forcibly taken to the hospital by the police in the early hours today. Lokula Gandhi is an NRI working at Kuwait working as a Mechanical Engineer.  He was on indefinite fast for the past 4 days to support Samaikyandhra Movement at Paderu in Visakhapatnam district.
