AP On High Alert: Phethai To Hit The Coast Today:- Andhra Pradesh and parts of Tamil Nadu are expected to receive heavy rainfall today as cyclone Phethai is all set to take a landfall this afternoon. It is left centered about 260km from Chennai and 280km south from Machilipatnam. The Meteorological Department released a bulletin on Sunday. Seven districts of Andhra Pradesh are in high alert and the AP Government is taking all the precautions to prevent human loss. Wind speeds are expected to be over 100 kmph in AP. Fishermen have been asked to stay away from the sea.
National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Coast Guard are kept alerted. 16 teams of Andhra Pradesh Disaster Response and Fire Services are kept as standby near the coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh. Cyclone Phethai is moving towards Andhra Pradesh and is expected to cross the coast between Machilipatnam and Kakinada. East and West Godavari, Vishakhapatnam, Krishna, Guntur, Vizianagaram & Srikakulam Districts are expected to receive heavy rainfall in the state.
