Software Engineer Along with Two Others Arrested for Drunk & Drive

A day after a mother and her 5 year old daughter was knocked down by a car at Pedda Amberpet, the Hayathnagar police arrested all the three suspects.
Police said that "B.N. Venkat Ramana, a software engineer from Hayathnagar who was driving the car, and his two friends had consumed alcohol at Choutuppal before driving back to Hyderabad. Since it was Gandhi Jayanti, a dry day, the trio had purchased alcohol earlier to party on Sunday."
“At 7 pm, the trio went to an open plot at Choutuppal and consumed alcohol. While coming back all the three were drunk. Despite being intoxicated Venkat Ramana decided to drive,” said an investigation official from the Hayathnagar police station.
Police added that "Sanjana and her mother were hit by Ramana’s car while they were crossing the road at Pedda Amberpet on Sunday night. After the mishap, Ramana and his two friends abandoned the vehicle and fled the accident spot. Venkat Ramana owns the Santro car. we are checking whether any traffic violations had been booked against him in the past."
Meanwhile, the condition of five-year-old S.V. Sanjana remained critical. She is still on ventilator support. Her mother, Ms S.V. Sridevi, who suffered multiple fractures, is recovering.
Before producing them in court, all the accused were tested for alcohol levels. The police has booked two cases against them.
Hayathnagar police said that "based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s father, Mr S.V. Sivananda, a case was registered under Sections 337 (inflicting injury through an of endangering the life or safety of others) and 338 (causing grievous hurt by an act endangering the life or personal safety of others) of IPC and other relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act."
