In order to facilitate completion of Hyderabad metro rail work, all the RTC services between Koti and Malakpet crossroads will be restricted with effect from Saturday for about three months.
"At present, about 5,000 RTC buses cross Malakpet RUB every day, our aim is to reduce the number to 2,000 to ease out traffic congestion in the area. Private buses and trucks are also being diverted," Traffic DCP AV Ranganath said.
There are total 5,000 services, out of which 2,000 coming from Hayatnagar side will be terminated at Nalgonda crossroads. Services from Miyapur, Sanathnagar and Kukatpally will return from Abids GPO.
There are about 1,000 inter-district and inter-state services from Imlibun towards Suryapet. Those will be diverted to LB Nagar via Madina, Bahadurpura Aramgarh junction, and Chandrayangutta. Buses from Suryapet will be terminated at Dilsukhnagar.
RTC regional managers E. Yadagiri (Hyderabad) and R. Gangadhar (Ranga Reddy) said: "would meet on Saturday to decide on the number of services to be restricted."
"Though all 5,000 trips will continue, about 2,000 trips between between Abids and Malakpet via Koti and Chaderghat will be reduced,” deputy commissioner of police (traffic) A.V. Ranganath said.
He added "District buses from Nalgonda towards MGBS will halt at Dilsukhnagar bus stop. City RTC buses from MGBS and Chaderghat crossroads towards Dilsukhnagar will be diverted via Nimboliadda, Golnaka new bridge, and Moosarambagh. Two wheelers, auto rickshaws, cars will be diverted at Lalazar Hotel towards railway under a bridge, Saifa mosque rotary, Azampura and Chaderghat crossroads. District RTC buses towards Nalgonda crossroads will be diverted at MGBS out gate via SJ rotary, APAT and Dabirpura to Chanchalguda."
