Heavy Rush seen at Temple in Karimnagar

As the holy month of Shravanam arrive, heavy rush of devotees was seen at Sri Rajarajeswara Swamy Devasthanam (SRRD) of Vemulawada in Karimnagar district on Monday.

Around 20,000 devotees from different parts of the state visited the shrine to seek their lord’s blessings. The temple earned Rs 10 lakh as offerings and even the sales of tickets of prasadam, Kode Mokku and other arjita sevas were in full demand.

Pilgrims from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Chattishgarh visited the temple. Special Prayers were offered by all the pilgrims.  Some even organised ceremonies for their children. Devotees also took part in holy dip in the tank of the temple and then had a darshan of the Lord Shiva.

Some devotees even tied oxen (Kode Mokku) in the temple, as an offering to the Lord appealing him to protect their families. Famously known as ‘Tulabaram’, some pilgrims even gifted jaggery equivalent to the weight of their children and later distributed it to fellow devotees. Some devotees carried bonam on their head and visited Sri Baddi Pochamma temple.

Due to huge rush, several devotees complained of the inconvenience as there was garbage piled up on the roads. Long queues were seen at Kalyana Katta and many had to wait to get their heads tonsured. Devotees arrived in the temple town through various modes of transportation. They checked into private lodges and choultries run by the management of the SRRD.
