TSRTC to Strike from Today in Hyderabad

The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) Workers’ Union Joint Action Committee has decided that it would undertake a one-day strike on Thursday from the first service of the morning till the last in the evening in pursuit of employees’ demands.

With the exception of the Telangana Mazdoor Union and Bahujana Karmika Union, seven other unions would strike work. Primary among the demands are that the government should take steps and implement assurances given to the corporation employees, apart from the management itself doing the same.

The government had promised to provide a Viability Gap Fund of Rs. 75 crore, financial assistance to the corporation and treating the period of the general strike between May 6 and 13, 2013 as special casual leave.

General secretary of the TSRTC Staff & Workers Federation, V.S. Rao and additional vice-president of the Telangana National Mazdoor Union, Ashok said that it had agreed to do away with the practice of having hired buses in the fleet. On its part, they said the management should implement the agreed-upon points according to the bilateral agreement.
