The country woke up to the shock, after Amithab Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai names were included in Panama papers issue. While Aishwarya already denied her inclusion, the Senior Bachchan now came forward to respond to the viral issue.
Mossack Fonseca, a Panama based company revealed that the two among the several biggies were involved in several tax evasion schemes and money laundering.
While several criticized over the silence of Big B, finally he has now come forward and issued a statement on the issue.
“I do not know any of the companies referred to by Indian Express - Sea Bulk Shipping Company Ltd, Lady Shipping Ltd, Treasure Shipping Ltd, and Tramp Shipping Ltd. I have never been a director of any of the above stated companies. It is possible that my name has been misused. I have paid all my taxes including on monies spent by me overseas. Monies that I have remitted overseas have been in compliance with law, including remittances through LRS, after paying Indian taxes. In any event the news report in Indian Express does not even suggest any illegality on my part.”
However, this is not the first time, Senior Bachchan has found himself in the controversy. In the past, his name was even heard in a Bofors scam.
Once he was relieved out of the case, he released a emotional statement that read, “I am happy that at least now I have been declared innocent. However it is sad it came out so late. I wish my parents were alive today to hear about my innocence. I remember that when these allegations were leveled against me, my father had asked me if I had done anything wrong but I could not say anything that time. He was disturbed about the allegations. But today they are not with me to hear about this (clean chit).”
Unwilling to be dragged into another affair, it seems, Bachchan has issued his side of the story in an official statement.
