Asking phone tapping call data is illegal- T govt. in HC

Telangana government said that it is illegal to ask the call data of the phone tapping issue and regarding this, the government approached high court.

The phone tapping issue, which is silent for a few days, again came into the news. It is known that, Telangana government is alleged that, it leaked the phone conversation of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana nominated MLA Stephenson. Naidu was alleged that, he tried to convince Stephenson to buy the vote in Telangana MLC elections, held at that time.

Regarding this, Naidu and other TDP officials said that, the voice in the phone conversation is duplicated. When the issue went viral, Naidu even approached Prime Minister Narendra Modi and demanded a probe into the phone tapping issue.

‘T’ telecom operators are targeted in phone tapping issue since then:

The AP officials took the case as challenging and started investigating it from all the corners. It was then, the Telecom operators of Telangana are targeted and inquired. As per the demand of the AP officials, the Telecom operators agreed to submit call data of phone tapping case, but asked a quality time for it. On the other side, the Telangana government is pressurizing Telecom operators, not to submit the Phone tapping case call data.

But on July 7th, Vijayawada Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) released a circular ordering the Telecom operators to submit call data. Reacting to this, Telangana government said that it is illegal to ask the call data and regarding this, Principal Secretary (General Administration Department) of the Telangana government, Ajay Mishra filed a petition in High Court.

Phone tapping case: T govt. demands Telegraph act implementation

The Telangana government further demanded the central government, to order the states about implementation of Telegraph act. They said, the CMM court order should be stayed as asking for call data is against article14 of the constitution.
