‘Godavari Pushkaraalu’ from Tomorrow

The once-in-12-years festival is finally going to be launched from tomorrow, where a few crores of pilgrims across the country take part in it.

Unlike previous ‘Pushkaram’, Godavari Pushkarams will set a new platform this time, as it is called as 'Maha Pushkarams’ which comes once in 144 years. In fact, from the astronomical point of view, this is given a high importance.

Pushkarams are celebrated once in 12 years in the Telugu states. A holy dip in River Godavari during the time is valued a lot and is considered to bring blessings to the devotees who perform it.

Which is the main venue for Godavari Pushkaraalu in Telugu states?

In AP, Rajahmundry is the main venue for the ‘Pushkarams’ and Basara in Adilabad is considered as the centre of ‘Pushkarams’ in Telangana state, whereas, Dharmapuri and Vemulawada in Karimnagar and Bhadrachalam in Khammam will also see a high range of audience for Pushkarams. Combining both, there are 263 bathing ghats in East and West Godavari districts.

Peetaadhipathis of Kanchi, Sringeri and Chinna Jeeyar Swamy will be invited to ‘Godavari Pushkaraalu’ by the Telangana Chief Minister KCR.

Considering the Pushkarams as a prestige issue of the Telugu states, the dual state government Chief Ministers are inviting President Pranab Mukherjee, the Prime Minister, Union Ministers and Chief Ministers of all states for the occasion.

Each of the state government is spending Rs. 1600 crores for the event. Tight security arrangements are being made by the police

As ‘Maha Pushkarams’ is possible once in a life time, let us not miss the mega event.
