No going back on Media Restrictions

The Telangana government is likely to impose few restrictions on the print and electronic media at the state secretariat, despite the journalists protesting outside the CM's office at the secretariat demanding the government to roll back its plans to restrict the entry of reporters inside the secretariat. Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will be discussing this issue with the journalists representatives on Saturday afternoon at the Press Academy and we will take their suggestions on how to go about it.

On the flipside, the journalists union was shocked by this decision. The Indian Journalists Union and Telangana State Union of Working Journalists said this proposal is violation of the freedom of media and added that it is illogical to say the presence of journalists is causing disturbance to the daily operations at secretariat. According to the secretariat authorities post the division of Andhra Pradesh, the Telangana state was given four blocks and the parking area isn't quite enough to accommodate all the ministers vehicles and other staff. With more than 20 electronic media channels being at secretariat almost round the clock, the parking has turned out to be a big issue.

“There won't be any complete ban on media but there will be few restrictions. Telangana CM and TRS government respects media and with a better communication, the issue will be sorted out soon,” told Telangana government's media advisor Ramana Chary to the working journalists association. CM KCR will address the media this afternoon.
