Till June 1st many thought bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh is the only solution but as the days are progressing, post division problems are rising in number.

Firstly it all started with the cancellation of PPA [Power Purchase Agreement] by AP government. Though at central level this proposal was rejected, the Telangana government fired at AP government for its one-sided action. However, AP has decided to go ahead with its decision also moved out of the Electricity Regulatory Commission [ERC]. Even this move was also faulted by the Telangana government. Engineers of both the states are meeting today in Bangalore for discussion on Power sharing. But the Central government did not get involved in this issue in spite of Telangana government complaining against the AP government.

In the second issue, it is the never ending water sharing problem. AP and Telangana governments have mutually agreed to release 10 TMC water for the Krishna Delta region. From June 25th to July 9th, water should be released from Nagarjuna Sagar dam. But so far Telangana government is undecided over the release of water as till date there is no rain in both the regions. As the date is approaching, the Central government took the initiative of peace talks between both the states.

And lastly, the shortage of coal for AP Thermal projects. The Telangana government has stopped coal supply to Kadapa and Vijayawada thermal plants and production of 1200-1300 Megawatts power may fall in crisis if the condition continues for the next couple of days. This move of Telangana government came after AP government canceling the PPA.

The Polavaram dam is always making the headlines and there are many issues that are needed to be addressed. Overall, it is quite evident that the division process was rushed before the elections without any proper pre-planning. We have to see how many more issues rise in future.
