The last date for linking Aadhar card to bank account to get the subsidy is extended from June 1 to August 31 to the relief of many who have not got the Unique Identification Number. That means the cooking gas consumers will get gas at the subsidized rate till 31st August without linking their Aadhar card to their Bank account.
The UIDAI's plan is to start a direct transfer of cooking gas subsidy into the Aadhar linked accounts for which June 1 was fixed as the last date for such linking. But as still so many have not received Aadhar card and could not link with their Bank account the time is further extended to August 31. The idea is that cooking gas under subsidy can be controlled from going to black market.
The procedure for crediting the subsidy is like this-
On the first booking of the consumer for cooking gas, the subsidy will be credited to his bank account within 3 to 4 days. By using that advance payment of the subsidy, the consumer has to purchase the gas at the market rate. Then the second subsidy will be credited on the delivery of the first cylinder and the process will continue till the eligible number of cylinders in a year i.e., 9.
Confusion is in the minds of the general public that they may have to shed the total amount first and then get subsidy from the bank. But the subsidy is remitted in advance to the consumers to help them to buy the cooking gas at market rate.
