After a day of hectic activity on Monday, the elected directors of the DCCB and DCMS would in turn elect their board heads. Polls to the state's top posts in the two boards are to be conducted today (Feb 19). The coop polls is the best way to distribute power to the macro levels. Those elected yesterday will elect their Presidents and Vice Presidents to the boards. Polls shall commence in the morning sessions and the results shall be revealed by the evening.
On Monday , polls were conducted for 19 districts. Congress emerges victorious, as was expected. It had hauled 17 seats while the oppositions TDP and YSRC bagged one each.
However many speculated that this could be a litmus test to the ruling party. As the Telugu Desam Party was banking hugely on the massive walkathon by its Supremo N Chandrababu Naidu. There had been wide coverage for the party at the rural levels with his 'Vastunna Mee Kosam.'
Contrarily, the YSR Congress also banked on Sympathy wave which was abundantly accumulating for the party. YSR Congress has been the most successful in spite of its leader sitting in Chanchaguda prison.
However political historians claim that the Coop polls will always favor the ruling party due to the huge financial allocations that are due from the government during the tenure. (Wishesh AarKay)
