Murder cases were booked against MIM MLAs Akbaruddin Owaisi and Ahmed Balal in connection with a murder case of one Ibrahim Younus Yafai, who was shot dead in Barkas area last year. Chandrayanagutta police lodged murder cases based on the complaint by the brother of the accused, Awadh Bin Younus Yafai. The police officials have said that the legal opinion of the additional solicitor general was sought after which case of murder and criminal conspiracy was booked against Akbaruddin and others.

In his complaint, Awadh has alleged that gunman of Owaisi, Jani Mia on April 30, 2011 came to their house and conveyed the message that Owaisi wanted Ibrahim to meet him at MIM office. When he along with his brother approached the party office, they saw Owasi with a gun. After some arguments, Owaisi allegedly caught the collar of Ibrahim. In an attempt to free himself, Ibrahim pushed Owaisi following which both fell on the ground. And Awadh said he then heard gun sound. His brother reportedly died. Complainant alleged that the murder was a pre-planned one.
