Film maker Raghavendra Rao in trouble

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has served notices on the Andhra Pradesh Government and film maker K Raghavendra Rao over a land dispute in posh Banjara Hills area in Hyderabad. The court sought a response from the government over alleged allotting of two-acre land in Banjara Hills for just a minimum price way back in 1984. This act was supposedly done with a view to promote the film industry.

Unhappy with the decision of Government allotting land to RK Cine Complex, producer Rasamai Balakishan has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) over the same. The petitioner's advocate argued that while the land was allotted for the development of film, director Raghavendra Rao allegedly constructed a commercial building and gave it for lease to commercial establishments.

The petitioner's counsel has also asked the court to cancel the land allotted to Raghavendra Rao and urged that government be ordered for allotting the same for developing the film industry.
