High Court today admitted the private plea asking for probing the alleged liquor fraud in the state. In the process, the apex court has instructed the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) to submit their report. ACB was investigating the case, since time. The Court adjourned the hearings in the case to further two weeks.
ACB had made a breakthrough in the liquor scandal over the discrepancies in the allotment of licenses for the shops and also highlighted the corrupt practices of the syndicates which were dominating the allotments.
Earlier arrested Nunna Venkataramana, a king pin in the Vizag liquor syndicate has confessed to paying politicians, police personnel, excise officials and media personnel. Though many such allegations have been made, the ACB is yet to file a solid chargesheet in this regards, lament observers. (With inputs from internet- AW AarKay)
