YSRC wins Prathipadu, expectations fall flat

Mekathoti Sucharita (YSR Congress) has won against T.J.R. Sudhakar Babu (Congress) and K. Veeraiah (TDP) in Prathipadu. Of the eleven candidates contesting the triangle contest ensude between the three parties. As per the 2009 analysis the earlier Congress candidate won the people's mandate even after shifting her loyalities to YSRC is note worthy. And the worst is Congress in the race at number three lost the deposits too.

Prathipadu which was dominated by particular community was once the strong hold of  the TDP.  TDP's Makineni Peda Rathaiah won five terms from Prathipadu consecutively. He lost to Ravi Venkata Ramana of the Congress Party in 2004 Assembly elections. It was reserved for SC category in 2009 elections. The TDP candidature of Kandula Veeraiah for Prathipadu Constituency for ensuing bye elections was inevitable as, he lost 2009 elections with a narrow margin, from Mekathoti Sucharitha. However this time TDP had high expectations on this seat with Mr Veeraiah trying a comeback. This debacle must be real heartburn to the party high command.

YSR Congress winning could be attributed to many issues. Probably the hastening up of the CBI, though righfully done worsened the matters. With no second leader at the YSR Congress quarters to lead after its President Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, the sudden emergence of Y S Vijayamma and Sharmila made  a huge difference say sources. Another most vital point was that the public felt democracy was at stake when the state leader was nominated rather than elected by the elected MLAs.  Andhra Wishesh however made a detailed analysis on was this necessary. Check this Link: http://www.andhrawishesh.com/home/hot-buzz/28967-by-polls-results-today-was-this-necessary.html However the ruling party needs to give much meaningful explanation for the debacle.

The interview of YSR Congress Chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy's wife speaks volumes about the winning stride of the party in almost all the eighteen constituencies that went for the by-polls. Ms Bharathi, in an exclusive interview to NDTV, says it is Jagan's day as "he has worked so hard for it". The YSR Congress party is posed for a massive win. As of now the party has won 5 seats, Yemmiganuru, Polavaram, Prathipadu, Macherla and Rayachoti and is leading in almost 14 more as per sources.  (With inputs from internet-AW AarKay)
