The Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh, Madan B Lokur has visited 1000-pillar-temple in Warangal today. He has arrived at the temple along with his wife and offered special prayers there. Later he reportedly enquired the temple authorities about the history of thousand-pillar-temple. After offering prayers at this historic temple, the Chief Justice has paid visit to Khila Warangal (Warangal Fort).

Thousand-pillar-temple and Khila Warangala are top cultural destinations in the state. While even foreigners visit this place, many film shootings also take place here. Many scenes of Trisha starrer Varsham movie were shot at 1000-pillar-temple.

The legend has it that this temple was built in 1163 AD by Rudra Deva of Kakatiya dynasty.   (Phani)
