Congress Rajya Sabha member and mega star Chiranjeevi clarified today that no one would contest the Tirupati assembly by poll on his behalf.
Speaking to media persons in New Delhi after meeting Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Chiru said he was also not in the know of things about Minister Galla Aruna Kumari’s son planning to contest the Tirupati by-poll on behalf of the congress party.
“You have to wait to know all these things as the congress party high command is the final authority to decide on such issues,” Chiranjeevi said when asked about the prospective Congress candidates for the Tirupati by poll.
The actor denied that he came to Delhi to seek Cabinet berth in the Union Cabinet and said he expressed his gratitude for Sonia Gandhi for ensuing his election to the Rajya Sabha.
“I discussed the by-poll results in the state with Sonia,” he said, adding, the results went in favour of the TRS because of the Telangana sentiment. “However, we are going to come out with improved performance in the next round of by polls. We will surely win the Tirupati by poll,” the actor-turned politician said assertively.
To another question, he said Chief Minister Kirankumar Reddy has been functioning efficiently and no minister should resign taking moral responsibility for the by-poll results. (J)
