Bringing down the temperatures and throwing normal life out of gear, the Vijayawada town and its surrounding areas today experienced heavy rain. The unseasonal rain created traffic jams at some of the thoroughfares.

Several low lying areas were inundated because of the rain that began early in the morning and thrashed the city for several hours continuously.

However, the people of the town welcomed the rain as it provided a brief relief to them from the ever increasing temperatures. (J)
