The Congress high command has reportedly decided to take a decision on the Telangana issue after the completion of the UP elections.
Reports said the party has decided to constitute a Telangana Regional Development Board with a fund of Rs.20,000 Cr to assuage the depressed feeling of the congress leaders in the region.
Constitution of a Regional Board for Telangana while keeping the state united is the last of the six recommendations made by the Justice Sri Krishna Committee and the party seems to have made up its mind in favour of the sixth recommendation.
In the event of the constitution of such a Board, a leading Telangana Congress leader may be appointed as its chairman. The congress high command thinks that constitution of such a Board and simultaneous launching of works on the Pranahita-Chevella project will go a long way in placating the emotional Telangana people and turning them towards the Congress again.
The congress party has also decided to take up the prestigious Polavaram project on a priority basis simultaneously.
Reports said the congress leadership will act on the issue once the election process is completed in the Uttar Pradesh. (JUBS)
