Dr.Ambedkar statue was ill treated by unidentified persons in Amalapuram, East Godavari Dist., hurting the feelings of Ambedkar’s followers. As a result the Dalit Associations supported by all party leaders held a Dharna at the center of the village Once Katreni Kona where the statue of Ambedkar was disrespected.
The problem started when the statue of Dr Ambedkar was found garlanded with chappals, in the village of Tamara Cheruvu in the outskirts of Rural Amalapuram in East Godavari district where previously a number of Ambedkar statues were disfigured.
As the miscreants wanted, it sprouted agitation followed by making hindrance to traffic on the main roads. DSP Sridhar went to the agitation spot and as an attempt to pacify them promised that the culprits will be apprehended with help of dog squad. Police are present at the disturbed area where shops are made to close as a token of the agitation against the disrespect to the National Leader’s Statue. (SJ)
