Dalit leaders call for bandh in E.G.Dt

Clashes over the desecration of B R Ambedkar statues in Amalapuram town on Monday saw the whole town as a battle place when two groups clashed with each other. The brawl saw stones and soda bottles strewed across on, all prominent streets of the town. In a bid of protest over the incident the Dalit leaders of the district called for a total bandh on Tuesday, in the district. The call had left passengers stranded as nearly hundred buses belonging to Rajolu depot came to a halt. The district Supdt of Police Trivikramarao said that extra battalions of force had been deployed to avoid any untoward incident in `Konaseema.’

Nearly three statues of the Dalit leader were desecrated, at Amalapuram town on Monday. Following which, tension prevailed in the area with two groups actively clashing with each other. Police baton charged the two groups pelting stones on each other. In a bid to ensure safety of the public, police issued section -144 precautionary orders that five or more people must not assemble as a gathering. State Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy directed the police to bring the guilty to book.  (With inputs from the Internet-AarKay)
