The CBI today opposed the idea of providing access to a laptop or desktop system for Mr Vijay Sai Reddy, accused number two in the illegal properties case involving the YSR Congress president Mr YS Jaganmohan reddy in his Chanchalguda jail cell.
When Vijay Sai’s petition seeking access to a computer or laptop came up for hearing today in the special CBI court at Nampally in Hyderabad, CBI opposed the plea tooth and nail saying such a facility would give an opportunity for him to manipulate the case.
“The access to computer, desk top or lap top, will enable him to use internet and manipulate the case,” said the CBI counsel. “Computer can create wonders. Even otherwise also, computer access was allowed to Satyam scam accused Ramalinga Raju only after the charge sheet had been filed,” said the counsel.
The CBI said it had no objection if some white papers, pen and a type writer were provided to him in his jail cell.
The counsel for Vijay Sai reddy argued that CBI had collected all the evidences in the case and there was no chance for manipulation of the case. “Hence, my client should be given access to the laptop or a computer,” he requested. The case was adjourned till Jan 23 for further hearing. (JUBS)
