Union Minister and in-charge of the congress affairs in AP Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad said today that the entire process for taking a decision on Telangana is over except for a discussion with the national leaders of various parties on the issue.
Describing the Telangana issue as a national one, Azad said that Centre will soon have a dialogue with leaders of national parties and then announce its decision.
“The decision will come soon,” he told newspersons in Chennai while answering questions on the Telangana.
Meanwhile, there is speculation that the Centre will interact with the leaders of the national parties early next week on the issue of Telangana. The decision may come at the end of the week.
Reports said that the Centre is considering division of the state based on the fourth and fifth suggestions given by the Sri Krishna Committee.
Justice Sri Krishna committee in its fourth option has suggested that the geographical jurisdiction of Hyderabad should be extended further while both Seema Andhra and Telangana areas should build their separate state capitals after the division. The option is meant to make Hyderabad reachable to the three regions.
The fifth option is that Hyderabad should be made capital of Telangana state and a new state capital should be developed for the Seema Andhra region after the division. However, till the new capital city is developed for Seema Andhra area, Hyderabad should also be allowed to function as its capital. But, Justice Sri Krishna has said that the option will have serious repercussions during implementation.
