Union Minister for Health Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad will inaugurate the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) at Ongole on Nov 7.
Along with the RIMS, Azad will also launch the platelet transfusion unit in the town before leaving for a tour of the Kadapa district.
As there is no platelet unit in the town, people who need platelet transfusion are leaving for other districts all these years and the launching of the new unit will go a long a way in meeting the needs of the people.
The most affected because of the lack of facility are the Dengue-afflicted persons. The government granted the unit to the district after the Minister Maheedhara reddy took the initiative a few months ago.
