Senior IAS officer BP Acharya, who was questioned by the CBI on Wednesday for his role in the Emaar land scam, reportedly informed the investigators that he signed all the Emaar files on the orders of the then advisor to the Government Mr KVP Ramachandra Rao, who was a close friend of the late YSR.
“I put my signature on all Emaar files at the instance of KVP and I only played a nominal role in the entire affair,” he told the CBI officials, according to a news story published in a Telugu daily.
Acharya also told the investigators that all officers would generally obey the orders of the bigwigs of the Government and he did the same thing. “I didn’t get any monetary benefit for that,” he told the CBI officials. “Everything was done with the knowledge of the bigwigs in the Government.”
Acharya, who worked the as MD of the APIIC and was responsible for the allotment of hundreds of acres of land to the Emaar during the YSR regime, also informed the CBI officials that KVP’s brother-in-law Mr Parthasaradhi was appointed as the director of the organization even though he was not qualified for the post. “The appointment took place at the behest of KVP,” Acharya told them.
