CBI, in its case diary submitted to the special CBI court at Hyderabad on Wednesday, said that the tainted mining mafia don and former Karnataka minister Mr Gali Janardhan reddy planned to escape along with his wife to a foreign country or some undisclosed place carrying huge quantity of cash and gold to avoid investigation and arrest in the illegal mining case.
CBI in its diary said they took the help of the Bellary SP and sought police protection from him for the raiding CBI teams. “We told the Bellary SP that we were raiding the houses of Gali Janardhan reddy and his brother in law under section 165 of the Cr PC as there was no time to take court permissions and serve notices on them,” said the CBI in its diary.
The diary reveals that the CBI officers took the cooperation of two CIs of Bangalore city, Mr TV Joy and Mr Jaboy who are very much familiar with Bellary town. They along with some CBI officials of Bangalore city reached the Bellary town around 4 am on September 5.
The CBI said in its diary that they had arrested Janardhan reddy and his brother –in-law as they refused to respond to their queries. “The accused are very rich and powerful in the sense that they can destroy documentary evidence. They are planning to escape to foreign countries to avoid investigation and arrest since they have offices and companies abroad also. Because of this we were forced to arrest them,” said the case diary.
