Congress president Sonia Gandhi, angry at being misled by wrong projections of majority for the YSR Congress chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy in the Kadapa Lok Sabha by election, today sought an explanation from the Union Minister and in charge of the congress affairs in AP Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Reports from Delhi said that Azad met Sonia at her residence early this morning where he was asked on reasons that fetched Jagan more than 5, 40,000 votes in the Kadapa by election. Azad reportedly told her that Jagan had won with such a big majority mainly because of the sympathy wave and also because of his money power.
Sonia, obviously not amused at the explanation, took Azad to task by asking for reasons for misleading her on majority projections for Jagan. “You people told me that he would get a majority between one lakh and two lakhs but you are nowhere near the estimates, why,” an irate Sonia questioned Azad.
It is now clear that Azad got the feedback of majority projections from chief minister Kirankumar reddy and PCC chief D. Srinivas and carried the same to Sonia. It might however be mentioned that Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal announced, after conducting a survey, that Jagan would get a majority between four lakhs and five lakhs.
