Police booked cases against Labour Minister Danam Nagender and 20 of his supporters under the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act on Sunday after they had thrashed a person called Shravan Kumar in Secunderabad.
It all happened when some T activists hurled eggs on Nagender’s convoy when he was proceeding to Addagutta to inaugurate a clinic in the area. After the incident, the Minister stopped the convoy and got down from his vehicle. He then took a lathi from a nearby constable and had beaten up the persons including Mr Sravan Kumar for throwing eggs on him.
On a complaint by Sravan Kumar, the Tukaramgate Police booked the case under section 324 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) of the Indian Penal Code. Police later said they were verifying the video footage to find out if the Minister was involved in the incident.
Earlier, TRS activists staged demonstration in front of the police station demanding booking of cases against Nagender and his supporters. Minister Sankara Rao also demanded the government to book cases against Nagender for his action.
