The Sakalu Janula Samme demanding the separate statehood for Telangana reached the twenty ninth day, the State Transport Corporation protest has ended on the twenty second day. NMU the major APSRTC union has called off strike. Some services have started resuming operations and a little relief to the common man. The Telanagana Court Employees Association has announced that they are going to join the protest from the day. But High Court is going to function in normal course. It may be noted that the lawyers were already protesting since the beginning. The President of the state Court Employees Association, B Lakshmareddy, said that nearly 5000 employees from the telangana region will join the protest from today.

Yesterday the leaders of the National Mazdoor Union (NMU) had talks with Transport Minister Botsa Satyanarayana, about the hardships faced by the common man enlightened by the latter. And later the leaders of NMU announced that they were calling off the strike in view of the inconvenience caused to the people of the region.

In the earlier part of the day Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy warned that any attempt to break law and order would be firmly dealt with. Once the NMU decided to start the state transport, which was idle since a long time, relief came to the common man. Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) convenor Kodandaram and some leaders of APRTC employees were arrested at Jubliee Bus Station in Secunderabad when they gathered there, reportedly with the intention to stop buses. The strike has so far caused a loss of Rs.150 crore to APSRTC.

In a private incident the parents of a junior college entered into an altercation at the college premises and the activists went on a rampage when the parents demanded to reopen the institute, in concern towards their wards education, since all educational institutes were closed since the beginning of the protest. This aggravated the activists and they threw stones at the institutes building damaging the furniture at a private Junior college in Kukatpally. Ultimately the management closed fearing the wrath of the activists.

Meanwhile, ignoring the ‘rail blockade’ called by JAC for Oct 12-14, the railways on Monday decided to operate all trains in Telangana with police security and warned the protesters of strict action if they obstruct train traffic or damage railway property.
