The Sakalu Janula Samme demanding the separate statehood for Telangana reached the seventeenth day, today, in the Telangana parts of Andhra Pradesh. In the wee hours today at the capital the Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) Chairman Kodandaram was arrested and was shifted to the Bowenpalli police station. Mr. Kodandaram joined the Newspapers hawker association who were protesting for the day, as a part of the ongoing agitation.
The arrest created a chaos in the city among the Telangan Employees Associations, who demanded immediate release of Mr. Kodandaram and threatened of intensifying the agitation.
Yesterday the Political JAC has given the Rasta-Roko call in a bid to step up pressure on the Centre and the state government for the cause of Telangana state. Police had a tough time in controlling the protestors as JAC has called for road blockades at 100 places in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
Meanwhile on Wednesday the Teachers ''Poru Garjana'' meeting in Nalgonda turned into a virtual battlefield as supporters of Minister Komati Reddy and MP Guta Rajagopala Reddy clashed with the teachers even as police resorted to lathicharge to disperse them and bring the situation under control.
In another incident, thirty two legislators of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) from Telangana on Wednesday submitted their resignations to press the demand for separate statehood to the region.
Whatever be the reason the political parties together are forgetting about the common man who is ever tolerant is being put to mounting problems, because of this agitation. With limited funds on hand and the price hikes not enough the bandh has hit hard on the pocket with miscreants trying to exploit the crisis further. From the transport to the daily vendor all are playing their parts well to make hay in disguise of this agitation.
