1-and-familyPersonal life:Kalyan Babu, the brother of mega star Chiranjeevi, was born to Sri and Smt Konidala Anjana Devi Venkata Rao in the year 1971. When he took birth - his parents gave two gems as his elder brothers, one being Shivashankara Varaprasad and the other Nagendra Babu. And the small family lived together happily in a small village Mogalithuru in West Godavari district. Born in an economically backward family, Pawan Kalyan witnessed n number of hurdles and came to know what actually the life is at a very young age.

College-photoHowever, fate of their family suddenly changed after their brother Shivashankara Varaprasad (who was later rechristened Chiranjeevi) appeared in films. Chiru eventually rose from small actor to supreme hero and then mega star. The family moved down to Chennai.  Kalyan Babu grew up. He had so many thoughts to prove himself and wanted to try even in films. He once told in an interview that he decided to move to Bangalore to look after a nursery. However, a film offer knocked his doors and Kalyan Babu (as the brother of Chiranjeevi) appeared on the screen for the first time in 1996. And he at last accepted the offer since his family members persuaded him to enter films.

Pawan Kalyan married Renu Desai in 2009. Notably, she appeared opposite him in Badri and Johnny movies. Later, Renu Desai worked as Pawan Kalyan's costume designer for many of his films. They both have two children—Akira Nandan and Aadhya. While Akhila was born in 2004, Aadhya was born in 2010. He has a brother-in-law Allu Aravind, who is a famous producer. Allu Aravind's son Allu Arjun too took the footsteps of his uncle Pawan Kalyan and became a stylish star.

Recently, there were rumours that there was a split between Pawan Kalyan and Renu Desai. Reacting on this, Renu Desai said: "We are deeply in love from 11 years and will be together for many years to come. We are so much in love with each other, so that the question of split is just ruled out. I don’t know how these baseless rumors crop up. Now, I am worried about how these rumors affect my two children (Akhira Nandan, Aadhiya). My son is holidaying with his dad who is shooting but I stayed back to look after my daughter. I opted to stay in Pune only to pursue the education of my son."

Marriage-photoMartial arts: When dupes played fight and stunt scenes on movies, it was Kalyan who told scores that real heroism can be performed on screen. He was the first hero to perform stunt scenes right from his first movie - Akkada Ammai, Ikkada Abbai to Khushi to Johnny. Kalyan was not just an average fighter but excelled in martial arts. He now holds a black belt in karate. He even went to foreign countries where he learned and excelled in several other forms of martial arts. Looking at this boldness and skills in martial arts, he was given the title - Pawan and then Kalyan became Pawan Kalyan.

Inspiration: While Pawan Kalyan himself is an inspiration to scores of people, there are personalities who inspired Pawan Kalyan. Che Guevara, Swami Vivekananda and Jiddu Krishnamurti are the role models of power star.

Entry into films: After much persuasion from the family members, Pawan Kalyan entered the reel world with the film Akkada Ammai Ikkada Abbayi, which was released in 1996. Although Pawan Kalyan was referred to as mega star Chiranjeevi's brother, it took less than two years for this dynamic hero to carve out a special image in the hearts of Telugu audience with his unique acting and novelty in fighting sequences. After the release of Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi, Gokulamlo Seeta was released in 1997 and Suswagatham. Both these films were commercially successful and brought critical acclaim to Pawan Kalyan.

image6There was, however, one film, which changed the outlook of Indian cinema and made Pawan Kalyan the power star. If your guess is Tholi Prema, then you have guessed it right. Released in 1998, Tholi Prema revolves around an adolescent who falls in love with a studious girl. Pawan Kalyan  touched the emotional chords of the people with his outstanding performance in Tholi Prema. Right from a college going adolescent to the spine bent aged, everyone enjoyed Tholi Prema movie and the credit undoubtedly goes to Pawan Kalyan for carrying out the role so perfectly.

As soon as Tholi Prema became blockbuster movie, offers literally poured in for Pawan Kalyan. But, the star didn't accept every other offer. He was, in fact, particular while selecting his projects by giving due importance to stories. That's probably what's called dedication and focus. And Pawan Kalyan undoubtedly had all these qualities from his birth.

image8Sets a new trend: Pawan Kalyan has set a new trend in Tollywood. Till 1996, heroes only knew to accept offers as and when they come. But for Pawan Kalyan, timing was very important. He ensured that he won't jump in and accept the movies right away. One movie after the other was his formula because he knew none could do justice to any cinema by working simultaneously on two or three projects. And this trend became fast catching up among the upcoming heroes then.

image7Continues to rock silver screen: Tholi Prema, this movie nearly played for a year in many places, and one after the other who watched this movie became a die-hard fan of Pawan Kalyan. Power star's image touched the sky, but his feet were still on the leg. The down to earth personality, Pawan Kalyan didn't sit back and relax after Tholi Prema's success. He chose yet another challenging character.

Thammudu, which was released in 1999, a year after Tholi Prema has shown Pawan Kalyan as a naughty college going student who turns into a professional boxer to avenge his brother's murder attempt.

image10Since Pawan Kalyan was good at martial arts, he lived in that role. In his journey to become a boxer, the hardships he goes through would be depicted in a song titled - Look at my face in the mirror and I wonder what I see, I'm just a traveling soldier, and I'll be what I can be...but right now I just wanna be free...I wanna be all I can be..." This song literally became an inspiration to scores of people. Thanks to Pawan Kalyan for his extraordinary performance in the song.

image11Thammudu movie became a blockbuster and as usual offers again continued to knock the doors of Pawan Kalyan. And the dedicated acted carefully picked yet another splendid subject by Puri Jagannadh. The movie was out in 2000 as Badri and became a sensational hit. It was for the first time Pawan Kalyan's wife Renu Desai shared screen space with power stars and all fans liked the couple so much that they even wished how nice it would if she shared her personal space too. Their wishes turned true and the duo entered into the wedlock soon.

image12After Badri, another movie broke the records of Pawan Kalyan's earlier flicks. If you think its Khushi, then you have got it right! Directed by S.J Surya, Khushi movie showed Pawan Kalyan as a dynamic urban youngster with a self-esteem. Khushi movie had a special flavour. At that time, hero falling at the feet of heroine and then getting dejected was the only concept of a romantic film. And Khushi completely changed that concept wherein hero had undying love for heroine but doesn't fall for her. Pawan Kalyan handled the role so exactly that at one point of time people felt that movie would have not achieved so much success and appreciation if there was no Pawan Kalyan. Khushi's success was so overwhelming that it even captured the attention of Bollywood. Khushi was remade into a Hindi movie casting Fardeen Khan and Kareena Kapoor. The movie, however, received average response, which clearly indicated that it was the magic of Pawan Kalyan, which made the movie a blockbuster hit.

TeenMaarimagePawan Kalyan took a break of two years after Khushi and came out with Johhny, which was his first directorial venture. Later came the movies, Gudumba Shankar, Balu, Bangaram, Annavaram, Jalsa, Puli, Theenmaar and Panja. All these movies, although received critical acclaim for the good subject and outstanding performance, were unable to impress the mass audience, who expected an out and out mass oriented film from Pawan Kalyan.

image13On noticing the interests of his fans, Pawan Kalyan came back with as a powerful policeman in Gabbar Singh. The movie, which was released on May 11, 2012 created a sensation. In terms of records too, it surpassed Bollywood. Stars such as Salman Khan and maverick film maker Ram Gopal Verma were astonished looking at the collections that Gabbar Singh made. Till date, there's no movie, which beat Gabbar Singh at the box office.

Pawan Kalyan is currently working on a project by Puri Jagannadh. Titled, Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu, this movie is scheduled for a mega release on October 11, 2012. The expectations are sky-high from this film.

image15Common Man Protection Force (CMPF): Pawan Kalyan is a man with a golden heart. His sense of brotherhood and his love for the society made him come out with an exclusive association called Common Man Protection Force.  This organization was mainly set up to protect the common persons from dangerous situations. Pawan Kalyan himself donated one crore rupees for this organization. However, due to some unknown reason, CMPF was called off and Pawan Kalyan surrendered his revolver to the police.

image16The special association named CMPF might have not been there now, but Pawan Kalyan is always there in need of common people. Try to approach the actor if you face any threatening situation, you would surely be saved. Despite his busy schedule and personal life, Pawan Kalyan always thinks about people, society and his fans yet he maintains a low profile.

People like Pawan Kalyan are gifts of God to the world. And Andhra Wishesh conveys special thanks to the silver screen for introducing the real hero to the common men. Happy birthday to power star Pawan Kalyan. Long live the power of the people!
