
On World Tourism Day, travelers were encouraged by the Kerala's print campaigns to conserve the rain forests with minimal efforts. The simplistic yet efficient ad campaign's efforts to conserve the forests and teach the importance of sustainability were recognized with an Olive Crown Award.
On September 27, last year, one of the prints as a part of their ads showed how can postponing a hotel laundry help save the rain forests for longer. This advertisement won the award for the press services category, state tourism press mentioned today.
The Indian branch of International Advertising Association gives away the Olive Crown Awards which laud the efforts to communicate sustainability.
A towel was printed with the message, "A simple act can wipe away more than you can imagine" while also reminding the travelers that every time they time they travel, they should think twice before giving away for laundry.
The tourism department opined that an understanding between the tourists and trade will help the conservation of nature grow by leaps and bounds. If the travelers care for the beauty of the nature, a few simple actions are all it takes to keep the forests intact.
The ad was chosen the winner from several other ads from different Asian countries. Another national award for the Kumarakom's Responsible Tourism was also awarded in the Best Rural Tourism category. This model was extolled for eco-friendly tourism environment created by hospitality.
