Nupur Talwar, co-accused with her husband in the murder of their teenage daughter Aarushi and Hemraj, the domestic help at home was granted bail by the Supreme Court which had also ordered then that she be released only by today. With this order CBI would have more time to spare to trace and question a few “important witnesses”. Nupur who was incarcerated in the Dasna Jail in Ghaziabad for over five months though her husband was not convicted would leave the jail today.

She was taken back to the jail after a proceeding at the Ghaziabad court where she presented for the examination of a few witnesses.

Earlier CBI has opposed the bail applied by Talwar with the fear that she might tamper available evidence and even influence witnesses.

Nupur was arrested on April 30 this year after a special CBI court had issued a warrant. She had immediately appealed to the Supreme Court for a bail which the court granted on September 17.  Nupur Talwar's husband, Rajesh Talwar, is out on bail since her conviction as no evidence against him was found.

Aarushi, who was 13, was found dead in her bedroom in the Talwars' Noida apartment in May 2008. Hemraj was the initial suspect in the murder but later his body too was found on the terrace of the building. Rajesh Talwar was released 3 months after the murder on bail. The double murder has become one of India's most-discussed unsolved mysteries.
