NGO generates funds for couple who sold their son

An NGO based in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan, Tapovan Trust, had accrued a sum of Rs 51,000 for the welfare of a couple who earlier made the news for selling their new born baby boy for money, of which they were in dire need, for the treatment of their eldest son. This generated funds of over Rs 50,000 would be handed over to the financially troubled parents towards the treatment.

Earlier this incident made it to the top news channels depicting that Sandhya and Ashok Kumar had to resort to their last option of giving away their new born son for money to their neighbor for just Rs 40,000. They had accepted the money for the treatment of their first son who was attacked by paralysis. The couple had been gulled and received only Rs 20,000 instead. The police had also arrested the couple under anti-trafficking law but were later released on bail.

After the news spread, Tapovan Trust had collected Rs 51,000 from the people. They would also provide the father with a shop and electrical equipment so that he could maintain his own business and run his family. The presentation would be made by the collector of Sriganganagar.
