Azam Khan resigns from cabinet

On Wednesday, Azam Khan, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, had offered his resignation to the Chief Minister after he was removed as the minister-in charge of Meerut.

In a letter to the Akhilesh Yadav, he said that if he was considered incapable of being the minister-in charge for Meerut he was willing to abnegate his post as a cabinet minister.  He also asked in the letter to the CM, to relieve him from the responsibilities of the minister-in charge for Ghaziabad and Muzzafarnagar too, sources said.

According to the sources, minister of panchayati raj, Balram Yadav had been appointed the new minister-in charge for Meerut after the Samajwadi Party leader and Azam Khan was made the minister-in charge for Pilibhit district.

Earlier Khan had been responsible for the developmental projects as the minister-in charge for Meerut, Ghaziabad and Muzzafarnagar.
