Nepal bus accident: At least 35 pilgrims killed

At least 35 pilgrims were killed in a fatal bus accident in Nepal on Sunday. The accident took place when the bus on which pilgrims were aboard skidded off the road and fell into Gandhak Canal near Kathmandu. The pilgrims were heading to an ancient Hindu temple in Nawalparasi district. The bus belonged to Uttar Pradesh. The sources said that most of the passengers wanted to take part  Bolbam festival.

The police, who plunged into the accident, have recovered the deadbodies of 35 persons (25 men and 10 women) from the accident spot. The injured, who were nearly 10 in number, were rushed to nearby hospital for the treatment. The sources said that the condition of at least five passengers was critical. While the reasons behind the accident was yet to be ascertained, police suspected that the accident might have took place due to excess load. The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained.
