Cong wants Hamid to continue as Vice-Prez

The Congress sources said Hamid Ansari would remain the vice president of the country. Congress has already sought the opinion of several parties including BSP, SP and JD(U) and everyone reportedly nodded to the proposal made by the Congress party, said sources. However, there's one ally—Trinamool Congress with which Congress didn't make any discuss on vice-president's candidature. Nonetheless, Congress is apparently not worried over the same as it believes it got enough support to back Hamid Ansari.

It may be noted that Hamid Ansari was doing rounds among political circles for the presidential post much before UPA announced its presidential candidate.  Notably, Ansari's term ends on August 10 and the election to the vice president would be made on August 7 and the results would be declared on the same day.
