Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi proposed to introduce 72 new trains in the year 2012-13 across the country and two double-decker trains and a Shatabdi express are among the new trains proposed.

A Shatabdi express train between Howrah and New Jalpaiguri and AC double-decker trains between Chennai and Bangalore and between Habibganj and Indore are part of the new trains announced by the Minister in his Railway Budget for the year 2012-13.

18 additional train services were proposed to be run in Chennai area in the new financial year. (J)
