Kumar Swami begins indefinite fast

swamyFormer Karnataka chief minister Kumar Swami today began an indefinite fast in Bangalore demanding a CBI inquiry into the allegations of BJP that the family of his father and former Prime Minister Deva Gouda had earned an illegal wealth of Rs.15, 000 Cr.

Kumar Swami began his fast at 7.30 am in the Freedom Park as he was denied permission by the police to take up his fast in front of the Vidhan Soudha.

BJP recently released a charge sheet saying that the family of Deve Gouda had earned illegal properties worth Rs.15, 000 Cr.

“The BJP allegations are baseless and ill-motivated and I have launched this fast to prove to the people that there is no truth in the charges,” he told media persons after launching the fast.

Meanwhile, the police had made elaborate security arrangement around the fasting camp of Kumar Swami. The JDS workers in several districts of the state conducted rallies and dharnas today in support of the fast undertaken by their leader.
