After a Mumbai criminal court awarded on Friday a 3-year sentence to her in the murder case of TV executive Neeraj Grover, Kannada actress Maria Susairaj waked out of the Byculla Jail in Delhi as a free bird today and left for Bangalore.
She was released as she spent more than 3 years as an under trial prisoner in the jail but her boy friend and former Naval officer Emile Jermoe was still confined to the jail as he was awarded 10-year imprisonment in the murder most foul.
TV executive Neeraj Grover, known for developing TV quiz show Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?, was brutally murdered and chopped off into 300 pieces for easy disposal in 2008 by Emile Jermoe and his fiancee Maria Susairaj in a Mumbai suburb.
The main conspirator in the most gruesome murder was ordered to be released on payment of the compensation amount of Rs.50,000 to the victim’s family.
The parents of Neeraj Grover called the trial an unfair one and expressed their disappointment over the verdict. The murderer-actress is a free bird now.
